Any Shadowfax fans here? The opening is with Chuck Greenberg talking. When he passed away in 1995 of a heart attack, the band disbanded.
Follow Ups:
I have liked their music since I first heard them on the Windham Hill Sampler '82 back in 1982 and I have 5 of their albums. A Song for my Brother is probably my favorite song of theirs.
Back in the 80's I had an old friend from high school over one night for dinner. We hadn't seen each other for awhile. In high school and beyond my friend played lead guitar and sang in various local (NJ) rock bands. He was intrigued by my sound system and when I told him I liked various kinds of music including new age, he asked me if I had ever heard of a band called Shadowfax. I immediately pulled out one of their albums and put in on my turntable. My friend then told me that the drummer in one of his bands was Stu Nevitt, who was at that time, the drummer for Shadowfax.
It's a shame Shadowfax is no longer together.
I enjoyed listening to them in the early 80's. Still have the vinyl (and CDs) and will spin them occasionally. I was creating a playlist for an event last year and found a place for their track, "The Dreams of Children." I'm sure it is available from Tidal and other sources; if you like Shadowfax, or are curious, it's worth a listen.
I have their first album, WaterCourse Way on the Windam Hill label -
Have not listened to it in years -
I should pull it out and go for a spin...
I do like the music - just never was in my top 10....
Happy Listening
They were one of the early groups on the Windham Hill label. I have the CD 'Shadowfax'. Good overall.
Inmates
I caught Shadowfax at Red Rocks back in '84,
They opened for Hawkwind and David Sanborn...
great show, amazing music...
I saw them in the early 90's at the Roxy Theater in Atlanta. Great concert! I got a kick out of their comment before they started playing. Something to the effect: "We would like to thank our friends in Atlanta for taking care of us before the show tonight. You know who you are." I wonder what drugs they were doing?
