almost fifty years ago.
Gateway drug. ;)
Follow Ups:
I started with MGIIA's after trading my DCM Time Windows back into Listen Up in the early 80's. I've owned panels ever since.
When I opened my first store, the first line I went after was Magnepan. Also sold Martin Logan and Acoustat. Kinda like my panels...
The dealer where I first heard Magnepans (tri-amped TIIIs) later picked up Acoustat and Dayton-Wright.
Hearing JWC's D-Ws seduced me with the coherence of truly full range electrostats. I heard the pair of Acoustat X speakers Bob Rieman and Jim Strickland brought him for review along with meeting them. Also there for that audition, the dealer essentially picked up the line that night.
I bought my pair about a year later. :)
