Return to Planar Speaker Asylum
69.157.2.29
Hi All,
I have a 4 year old pair of LRS speakers. The right speaker delaminated last year and I took it back to Audio Excellence (the only Maggie dealer in Ontario) to be repaired. That same speaker has now had the bass panel drop out again. Rather than make the 2 hour, one way, drive to Markham, does anyone know how to take the back of the speaker inputs off to check to see if it is maybe a connection issue? I'm not particularly handy but would like to eliminate this a potential cause of the bass panel drop out. Would this be the first thing I should look for? I have switched fuses with the speakers and switched speakers from right to left and the problem remains in the same speaker.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Follow Ups:
You can remove the plate with the binding post and check the connections there first. Then if you need to go further, you can remove the staples from the bottom that hold the sock, then raise the sock up so you can check the crossover wiring.
If all that is good, then the problem maybe further up in the ribbon.
Before you start, remove the feet and lay it flat on a table.

Did you call Adrian at Audio Excellence?
He or someone else at the store might be getting out your way for some other transaction (delivery etc,) and may be willing to pick up your speakers.
They are interested in repeat business, like any good dealer.
