here is my system which IMHO sounds astounding for under a grand total .... or in other words what you guys typically pay for one power cable :1) Rega Planet 1 .... first gen cd player unmodified
2) Diy pure silver interconnect cables ... thin wire in packing tape sandwich
3) Nelson Pass B1 impedance matching network with no gain stage all the best components and silver wire ....
4) external regulated power supply for B1 buffer
5) Focal Evo 50 self powered studio monitors
6) inexpensive studio monitor stands with speakers mounted quite high
NOTE : notice that I have no pre-amp gain stage ..... no speaker wires ..... no amplifier ,,,,, no interconnects from preamp to amp ..... no digital cross-overs or extra digital conversions ..... the systems hardly evem looks like anything ..... but the sound is ooo - laaa - laaaa
room is 19 foot by 13 foot ..... wood floor ..... somewhat active room .... standing waves seem well under control

What was the amp used with the LRS? And what speaker wire?
I'm sure your new system sounds great.
I don't have any cables worth anything near that, not even close. I will say though that I definitely feel speaker wires and IC's make a difference.
No mention of music.
I suspect you and I tend more towards optimizing the presentation of live acoustic venues.
the silver interconnects cost Me 60 per pair and I needed 2 pair
the LRS was run from an Iverson Eagle amp with pure copper DiY cables - but before anyone reads me the riot act that amp was A / B with some very expensive new amps such as Rogue amps where it more then held its own.
the LRS - but not the Focals - were also demoed with a very nice reel to reel player which would smoke most turntables
in addition the LRS were demoed by me in other locations besides my house with various amps
of course the focal are self powered ,,,,, the LRS can be run with insanely expensive gear ...... I did say it was my budget pick ..... not a high end pick
Were the DIY speaker cables 10GA electrical house wiring? Saw that in another post of yours. If so I def think for very little money you could have substantially improved the sound quality. Can't speak of the amp, never heard of it. But you might just have deleted the 2 weaknesses by moving to the powered speakers.
The most important thing is you're enjoying your new set up.
Can't speak of the amp...
Here's the successor, the Eagle 2 from Stereophile.
40-year-old review, good digging. Wonder if the caps ever got checked, if he ever tried better speaker cable, etc. He's happy, enough said.
the biggest issue with the LRS is the cross over and 2 cent fuses they use ,,, there was an incredible difference using a jumper bar and Mye stands ...... speaker cable voodoo we could debate all day
I can't judge as I haven't heard the speakers. And I can't / won't disagree on your comments about mods and stands...
I have repeatable tests in my system that to my ears cables do matter, particularly speaker cables. And they don't have to be costly, I use Anti-cables (and prefer the old version to new).
Enjoy the Focal's, nothing but a good rep with the brand.
Finally the answer!
the LRS was run from an Iverson Eagle amp
Why so evasive answering a simple question?
no matter what amp you use with Maggies you are going to get some magic but you are also going to pay a price in lack of directness and detail - cant beat the laws of physics ,,,
Not sure how the laws of physics are more in your favor with a cone driven at its apex only versus a distributed voice coil on a plane.
