It was developed for pocket watches, they were kept in the same position.
With wrist watches your arm already does that job, so a tourbillon is nothing but silly embellishment, serving no purpose.
Makes the watch more susceptible to shocks, so you will never see it in work watches.
clever engineering for those who care.
...but I know today you can get simply fantastic watches for peanuts, so I am curious what the least expensive tourbillon is today.
My guess is $200 neighborhood.
My partner started buying inexpensive Chinese watches and they are amazing.Here is one that I quickly found.
