I recently modded a set of Polk SDA 1B's.
After finishing, and listening for 3 weeks or so, I was very happy
with the sound of new caps, resistors and dewound coils.
Everything measured <1% from nominal with the rebuild.
Last night I was listening to "An Evening with Corea and Hancock,
two grand piano's.
After awhile I realized Corea was playing on the wrong channel.
I got out my Stereophile Setup Disk, and checked L-R orientation, and phasing, sure enough L_R backwards, phasing fine.
This morning I corrected the cd outputs, and began listening.
The speakers now sound as if they were out of phase before,
makes no sense to me.
Using the Sterophile disk, phasing and orientation are now correct.
Enjoying the sound...my wife thinks I am a lost soul/moron.
Do I need professional help?

you can always throw money at the deal, some stuff has a polarity switch, others just start drinking to forget.
One considers that many Discs are in reverse polarity (phase) - nobody knows the actual percent - so the ones you used to like when the system was in reverse polarity sound bad now that your system's in correct polarity. Funny, huh?

so no "correct phasing"?.
You can have correct polarity when the system is in correct polarity and the source is in correct polarity. Correct system polarity can be obtained/verified using a Test CD with an out of phase track on it, e.g., XLO Test CD.
