As I evolve, I am being drawn to mono sound.
I own stereo media, if I merely use an adapter to mix stereo to mono, will I realize an output that is coherent?
Anticipating that technology usually is not this simple, something must be flawed with me doing this.
I figured you quantum folks could help.
Looking for suggestions for this self abuse.
Am I in the correct forum?

Same reason why some folks are enamored with 78 RPM records. No one ever said you can't get a really good soundstage with a single microphone. The argument can be made that the more microphones involved the more problematic the soundstage becomes. But all media has suffered overly aggressive dynamic compression lo these past 20 years. That's the biggest problem facing audiophiles.

Well, would you listen to mono on mono headphones?. Maybe coherent,
but boring as hell for me. I just don't get it, there's no way
I'd listen to mono if stereo was avail. Where's the spacial clues,
the imaging? No thanks.

Thats what I am wondering about, my bluegrass mono recordings sound more authentic than most bluegrass stereo recordings, that are recorded too hot and does not sound like real instruments at all, to me.
Like going to the Imax and being blown to the front lobby by the spl.
