They have no sonic effect, probably serve as braces.

I've had plans, exploded views, 3d renderings of Khorn for 40 plus years along with others like Jensen Imperials, Stromberg-carlson.
Even dug out my very old copy of Badmaieff and Davis How to Build...
What I call 2d horns like Jensen or Edgar, I can grasp important verses unimportant , but 3d horns, especially Khorns I don't get it with as much ease.
They looked like braces but not on any of plans i could find on short notice

Perhaps these will help with the visualizing.
Actually have had couple opportunities to do some hands on work with them, but its knowing with any certainty what a mod or change would impact, where on 2d or straight folded a bit more understanding.
Still cool to see the se through again.

It's hard to visualize for sure. '2d' is usually a constant width horn, so a simple side view tells you all you need to know. The issue with constant width horns is resonance coloration when the width reaches 1/4 wavelength. In a sub that doesn't go above 100Hz, where 1/4 wavelength is 2.8 feet, it's not a problem. But to go to 400Hz or higher, like a KHorn or my DR series, constant widths and parallel surfaces are a major problem. It's not difficult to design folded horns without constant widths or parallel surfaces using modern drawing software, but it's a bear without them. I managed it with my earliest DR horns, as did PWK with his KHorns, but it easily increases the prototyping process time by a factor of ten.
Never know, but could see software suggest " not recommended " would undo the creation process, resulting in less diversification.

Folding the horn was in his head and was clever
Where software could give different results is in modeling the actual horn and driver. Modern woofers would generally need a smaller throat area and smaller back volume BUT that also means the horn could be larger in a given box volume.
With software he wouldn't have needed the 'rubber throat', knowing without having to experiment what size throat would give the best result.
