I sold a pair for $4500.00 to a collector about 7 years ago and aquired another pair for around $1700.00 4 years ago.Depends on what someone would pay... I guess.
Personally, I would not go above 1K each on the outside but would not part with these unless someone really made me a high offer. (They are getting rare) It is supply, demand and how much you can afford.
I've seen cabs and drivers go for 2K and 20K. Again, up to what someone would pay. I certainly am not in the market at all.

Its a matter of convenience. If your a wealthy person 20k is small change. For the most serious collectors. Condition is everything. A genuinely mint pair might be worth 10 times more then a very good pair. I am no expert in coins and first editions but I think that's roughly the case with those. And they are some of the the original collectibles.
Something ebayers tend to forget when pricing their stuff. Which makes sense. You are going to find 10 vg items for every mint one you find. A pair of speakers that are uneven in condition and one being cracked and damaged but sort of repairable. I wouldn't value at any more then then both drivers as singles in need of a driver of similar condition to pair out.
