I posted earlier regarding a voigt pipe I was considering building. The BIB was posted as an option and that led down a very inspired road to many posts in the archives. After reading for about an hour, I've shelved the Voigt pipe idea an Am seriously considering the BIB. Aside from deciding which drivers to use the one thing I'm most curious about is whether this design is appropriate for an 8 watt SET 300B. For that matter, how well would they work with 3 watt 2A3? I'm currently in the process of building a pair of Paramount's from Bottlehead which allow for building in either configuration. So, is the BIB design tube friendly?
Best regards,
John

Greets!
Depends on how loud you listen just like with any other speaker type, but many BIBs have 95-100 dB half space efficiency, so in-room near/at a wall or especially in corners as they were designed for, a 2A3 should be adequate for all but the 'head bangers' and front row center at the symphony.

Terry Cain's BIB -why does it work and does anyone have those Fostex Craft Handbooks?
Terry Cain, himself, joined in on several discussions to lend advice and suggestions to all who were interested. Here's a direct link to his first post within that discussion above.
I heard the BIB's driven by a 5wpc Almarro A205A single-ended Pentode (SEP) integrated last year and it was pretty impressive. No problems at all reaching loud levels with great sound. Plenty of drive.
That discussions should contain everything you need to know and a lot of DIY builder's experiences with the speakers. In fact, the thread is stilla ctive these days.
Just wondering here. I own a pair with the Fostex 168 EZ/ nice.
Abbys - FE 166e
Single Ben - FE 208 Sigma
IM-Bens(my own) - FE 168EZ Sigma
BIB - FE 106E
Jean Marie Reynaud Twins mkII(my own) - proprietary drivers
Hamer Dymanics Super-12 - custom Emminence Beta-12'(?)
And, Almarro's M3A which, obviously, was a very nice match.
Thanks, It is an extensive thread. But very interesting. I've been checking it out for the last hour or so.
Best regards,
John
Lots of good stuff in there, just takes a while to wade through it all.
Hope it works out.
