Is the PAaudio 2226ex supposed to be a clone of the JBL 2226? Does it have shorting rings? The JBL 2226 does not go real low but when I heard one, it seemed to go higher than most 15" woofers and still sound good. I attributed this to the shorting rings.

Thanks for the info. I also saw your Beta 15CX. Not bad for $89 ea. The way finances are, I won't be buying new dreivers for a while. I do have a pair of Wolverine 12" Triax (coax w/ a wizzer) that I plan to try on an open baffle. I mostly scrounge up very used stuff. I poster earlier about an obscure Diatone driver but no one seems to have any infput. I am not supised. I expect no ones ever seen one.
Dave
FWIW - had a beat up old Karlson box loaded with Beta 15CX - qts too high but by chocking down teh rear lowpass and vent it sounded pretty listenable with 3rd order network and 205Ti Selenium. (a compression driver's field can lower Qes somewhat)
APT50 was good with the 12" cast-frame Eminence coax. Wolverine should sound great on OB
Freddy - hope U have a nice 4th
I figured they would work in an open OB when I saw the 9 cubic foot sealed cabinent recommendation in the literature. I have an M&K sub to take up the low end.
I hope you have a great 4th too!
