I have a pair of EV Wolverine LT-12 with woofer cones in very bad condition. It seems that the recone would cost more than a decent pair purchased at auction, so... Is there a way to pull the nice horn tweeters out of these for use in another project? Or do they have a shared magnet between woofer and tweeter? Anyone have a cross section diagram of these? Or ever taken one apart?
Thanks for the help and advice!
John

....a similar situation as yours is how I acquired my pair of T-35s. IIRC you have to pry off the metal sticker at the back of the driver and you will see a bolt there that fastens the tweeter. You practically have to destroy the felt dust cap in front to pull the tweeter out. Just be careful with the wiring to the tweeter terminals since they are very delicate.

Good to hear! I will try this soon. I have a pair of LS-12 which should be a perfect combination with these tweeters. Now to devise some way to mount them... The coax tweeter has no screw holes in the front. Any ideas?
Thanks for the response.

Using the bolt at the back you can probably rig some kind of a "U" bracket for mounting just like Altec did with the 3000 series tweeter. Hope this helps!

All that I can tell you is that the tweeter is a T-35 (well, technically, probably the Wolverine TW-35; but I don't think it has the smaller magnet of the T-35B).
The LT-12's a pretty nice sounding cheap coax, FWIW. Sorry yours is (are?) toast.
all the best,

According to the literature that I got with my pair, the tweeter is alnico.
