So the name is really Maxonic not Maronic?
Since it's a logo, you can change the type face to read better.
I think it should be changed and branded as a logo rather than use the excuse about the font.
Otherwise, the speakers look really great!
For those who want to translate it in English: go to
yahoo Japan, write Maxonic and click to the fisrt postMaxonic.
Then you can translate it with Alta vista bable fish.
CW,
Again you have brought in news of an exotic from the far east. Can you also give some info on the SIT amps that go along with this?
I was just shown the following English abstract of a Japanese paper that I soon hope to be able to read in its entirety:
Particularities of audio engineering and the role of SIT
"The past fifty years cannot be called a period of continual advance in the music reproduction capabilities of audio equipment (recording/playback/PA equipment, electronic instruments, etc.) The author goes back to the basics of audio engineering to analyze the characteristics of music, and makes observations on the particularities of audio engineering. Criteria are clearly defined and key points for pursuit are recommended. The superiority of SIT among currently available circuit technology design choices is explained, along with sonic achievements of a newly designed and built ideal OTL amplifier using only SIT at all stages. The amplifier was designed and made by selecting standard circuits suitable for SIT so as to bring out the best in SIT. The potential of SIT for future audio system development is also discussed."
So you can look forward to learning more juicy details before long. Usually I pay much less attention to amplifiers than to speakers -- I confess that I tend to think of amplifiers as being pretty close to "commodity" items (although I realize that's an overstatement, but there seems to be less differentiation among amplifiers than, say, among signal source equipment or loudspeakers) but something about these amplifiers really grabbed my attention. Heck, everything about Maxonic grabs one's attention. It takes a LOT of balls to do what they are doing and they obviously have the courage of their convictions and fanatic dedication.
I heard some SIT amps in Tokyo and they were very good against a 50 DHT amps.
The SIT, unlike most transistors, is extremely linear -- more so than a 300B.
They can be direct-coupled in an OTL but generally don't do a lot of current, so maybe a low-wattage OTL. This hybrid single-ended SIT design uses a 6N1P driver and a SIT running at 147V to an output transformer.

They need to change the font, it looks like it reads "Maronic".
I thought the same as well,,,lol
For better or worse the basic choice of typeface for that name has been set in stone, since the brand is actually the resurrection of a brand that existed back during the 1970s and first half of the 1980s. But you're right, from that particular angle the foreshortening of the "x" makes it look like the letter "r".
I am almost afraid to ask how much those drivers cost?
I don't know myself but the information will be soon forthcoming -- probably simultaneously with my translation.
Your suspicions are most definitely likely to prove to be correct, and I advise you to be sitting down when you read the price information, whatever that will turn out to be.
I've been thinking more about those coaxial drivers . . . usually field coil drivers are lighter in weight than their alnico counterparts -- how on earth did they get those things to weigh 40kg (88 lbs.) each?
> usually field coil drivers are lighter in weight than their alnico counterparts
Really? I've never seen that. To make a good FC, it usually has to be heavier.
John, you may be right. I was thinking of Feastrex fullrange field coil units, which are probably an exceptional case.
I wish i didnt open that link!

I want the reddish ones!
So i must find a good quality coax and build me a pair of those bad boys!
They look lovely!

I should have remembered that there is a lot of *emotional baggage* being dragged around that prevents certain persons from exercising any flexibility.
Pretty amazing, I was reading those.

If you're just talking drivers. . . . .
hi christopherthere is also a language tools from google . they have now translation from japanese to english. However, the maxonic page does not translate.

BTW, can you find out a company in japan witch makes frp edge diaphragms, similar used by ALE and Goto ? could you find out more informations ? i don't find ani info's on the net.
Fertin will come up soon with a 1" electromagnet driver as well, membrane aluminium ore titane, and brass phase plug.

The Maxonic page is an image. I'll be translating it into English before long. I can read the image with my human eyes but the online translation software can do nothing with it.
By the way I would be happy to try to find anything for you in Japan if you can compensate me at my usual hourly rates . . . (Of course if I knew off the top of my head I would immediately share the information.)
