I posted a long reply but it seems like it didn't go through. Long-time lurker, for probably 20 years ago.
The SA-10 is truly an end game product. You might find something "different" or you might wear out the laser/mechanical component but it will be very hard to *beat it*.
The SACD 30n and SA-KI Ruby/SA-12 have slightly lower noise, but the distortion on the SA-10 is better. What is interesting is that I have measured the SA-10 against the Topping D90. As expected, the 1 kHz THD+N (SINAD) is superior on the Topping. You can easily see the effect of increased noise on the SA-10 with standard test tones or music.
However, when you do a comparison against the DSD source file for actual music, what you see is that the SA-10 more closely matches the true DSD file than the Topping does, on a perceptually weighted comparison. So in that noise, it still more accurately reproduces music!

If you read about the development of the SA-10 there is a comment about Marantz engineers wanting to reduce noise somehow but the "Sound Master" electing not to make the change because it doesn't sound as good, himself being an engineer also.
This tells you that Marantz straddles the strong belief in measurements while also recognizing that a little bit of coloration can be wise, the same way that even the most glamorous actress may still use makeup.

Welcome! GXAlan
what gear and cabling is in your System?
The SA-10 is currently connected to the PM-10 via Canare quad cable from World's Best Cables. Then Monster Z2 cables to a pair of Onkyo-Takamine D-TK10's. They were Japanese-only mini monitors which live on as Kiso Acoustic speakers. The cabinets are from Takamine, the guitar manufacturer, and utilized fully custom drivers which are probably the reason why Onkyo went out of business :) The flagship Kiso Acoustic is better but the entry level Kiso Acoustic uses more conventional drivers.
I have owned Focal, Magnepan, JBL Synthesis, Sony ES, and TAG McLaren speakers over the years, but those Onkyo's are the real deal. You give up a lot because it's so small, but then there's no cabinet effect since the cabinets are so small. I have my JBL S/2600 (Mini Everest) for the times I want scale.
The main weakness of the SA-10/PM-10 combo is that you are dependent on your room. Today's advanced room correction can make a bigger difference in a poor room. But having compared against all sorts of different products ranging from a 300B SET to other hyper-real clinical perfection amps, I genuinely think the Marantz 10 series is the true all arounder.
The Marantz SACD 30n/Model 30 is a clear value champion though if you want the Marantz reliability and sound.
Excellent! GXAlan
