I was using Acoustic Sound. Either I'm losing my mind or they no longer have Hi-res to download. Is there any difference between the online downloads? Thx.
Follow Ups:
no problem downloading and I have been happy with the sound quality through my RPI 4 with SP/DIF hat outputting sp/dif coax to schiit dac, Transcendent Sound GG preamp and OTL power amp, and Reference 3A DeCapo I speakers
. I judge any sound system by how tiring it is to listen to.

Sound Liaison, a Very small label but in my humble opinion maybe the best in audio quality and it is music that you actually want to listen to.
Check the Carmen Gomes Inc. albums for bluesy jazz and the Paul Berner albums for americana jazz.
And for speaker placement their 'One Mic' recordings are sublime.
Their DXD and DSD albums are also available by Native DSD.
This is a great album. First time I listened I thought "oh, that is nice." but after a few times you realize how good these guys really are
Unfortunately, not for all of us.

HDtracks is excellent for downloads IMHO.They used to have frustrating issues with their download manager software but that was fixed many years ago [by thankfully abandoning their own homegrown Java based manager for a more professional one by JRiver].
I haven't used HDTracks much lately as I stream from Tidal and Qobuz.

" I haven't used HDTracks much lately as I stream from Tidal and Qobuz."
And there is the problem for all download vendors as their business has been decimated by streaming.
Of course if the OP had a Sublime subscription to Qobuz he could both stream and take advantage of the significant discounts offered on many hi-res downloads should he so wish.

True. I have no experience with downloads from Qobuz as my subscription is for streaming only. I have no idea how their downloads compare to HDTracks.
Hi, Jimbocky,The two download services I use most are HDtracks and Qobuz. I prefer HDtracks because it's a more simple process to purchase, download, and catalog music but Qobuz has more offerings. One trend I've noticed with both services is that there seems to be fewer true high resolution albums (24-48 thru 24-192) being released for sale. Most of the albums are CD quality (16-44.1).
Lately I've been first looking to see if the artist or record company has a website offering digital downloads of 16-44.1 or better. My hunch is that more money is getting to the artist by purchasing direct.

Tom,
I too always start at the artist's page trying to do the same in hoping they get most of the money. Thanks everyone for the responses.
Since there are some hi-res out there I will go for that when possible. I used to rip all my cd's into the Mac. No CD drive anymore. I have also noticed that there is one or more sites that they say this is not available for download in the U.S. That was a little confusing. But I have found more sites now.
I was sorry to see Acoustic Sounds go too (the downloads portion I mean) - although, truth to tell, I had not ordered from them in the past year. Of the ones still left, I prefer the following because of their more robust offerings of MCh downloads: eClassical (classical, as its name implies), Chandos.net (also classical), and Native DSD Music (all types of music, but with a heavy emphasis on DSD downloads, although DXD downloads are often available too). It looks like HDTracks is still a going concern too (all types of music, but 2Ch only), as is Canada's ProStudio Masters (again, all types of music, but 2Ch only). I have not used Qobuz's download service - although I'm a happy subscriber to their streaming service.
Like you Chris, I tend to focus on the few vendors that offer Mch downloads. Acoustic Sounds was the only place I knew of to download the Seattle Symphony releases. I guess I'll have to check their website, but it would be unfortunate if they lost their means of distribution.

"High-resolution stereo and 5.1 surround files are available from Acoustic Sounds and HDTracks."
So, HD Tracks?
PSM has only 2 Ch.
When I do a search on HDTracks of "Seattle Symphony Media", I get 22 hits, of which a grand total of ONE (their Strauss/Scriabin title) is available in MCh! ;-)
Of course, Dausgaard is their conductor now, so I don't really care all that much. ;-)
In fact, they already are!
There are no alternatives for the Seattle multichannel downloads. In fact, the SSO website for press materials (for registered press) has not been updated for the latest releases and is corrupted for at least one earlier release.
Lucky for me, I was able to grab the Strauss/Scriabin from AS on 12/30!
There seems to be little difference between HDTracks' and ProStudioMasters' offerings (at least it appears that way to me). There used to be significant differences which allowed some differentiation, now I'm not sure how both can keep going. I personally prefer PSM as their download speeds are very fast, HDTracks has never really beefed-up their server quality.
Thank you. I am only interested in 2 channel. I will look into what you recommended.
If you listen to classical music, an additional download source is prestomusic.com. They have lots of choice, the purchasing experience is easy, and downloads are quick.
