"Who the fuck is Foxes?!"I'm not kidding. Three different audiophiles wrote that to me.
Most people know Foxes as the female singer featured on Zedd's Grammy award-winning single, "Clarity."
Well, this year, Foxes (Louisa Rose Allen, born 4/29/89) came out with her own album, Glorious. And it is quite good. Foxes has co-writing credits on all of the songs on the album. Her vocals have been compared to more girlish versions of Kate Bush, Irene Cara, and Bonnie Tyler.
Because there aren't too many weak spots, you can play Glorious straight through. However, I'd like to turn your attention to the Deluxe version, which features 5 bonus tracks, including an acoustical version of "Clarity." These bonus tracks are every bit as good as the album proper. I don't know why they were left off of the standard album.
2014 has seen a ton of new music come out. There's just too much to choose from. I can't vouch for your locale, but here in the Bay Area, the two most ubiquitous songs are Echosmith's "Cool Kids" and Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off," both of which I like.
In an earlier post here on Hip Pop Stop, I wrote about Erasure's The Violet Flame, which includes that tasty bit of ear candy, "Elevation." But I'm going to go out on a limb, and nominate Foxes' "Let Go For Tonight" as Song Of The Year. Check it, and the rest of Glorious, out.

Foxes's Glorious deluxe, think it was the best album of the year. Had almost no press in the US for some reason.
Here in the U.S., when it comes to solo female pop singers, the media are focused on Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Even Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, and Sara Bareilles have kind of fallen out of radar's reach. Of the British female singers, Foxes is perhaps less popular/well-known than Ellie Goulding.
Hayley Williams has her own popularity, but is not in the same class/grouping as the above, because she fronts her own band, Paramore.
They both seem you be pretty good contemporary pop. I found 3 videos of each on the Stingray channel on my AT&T UVerse cable service and added them to my playlist.
