Me and a certain person sometimes hang out and on one occasion I was listening to my CD player and I happened to be listening to some female singer and my freind saw the CD cover and gave me the look, as if I only like the album because the singer is hot (partially true) on another (earlier) occasion I was listening to a Girly song with a diffent freind , the one sung by nelly and Ashanti and he immediately said "I know you aint listening to what I think, you are thats a girls song, what kind of dude who wants preppy white women, listens to a girly
song." I even used to like Nsync and the backstreet boys

no,im 52 male I have I have a large collection of female videos & cds.best videos I have are Britney spears my perogitive.lita ford hits.shakiras lastest concert & her rare videos.kylie minogue,beonce birthday, sarah Brightman.cds are fiona,steve nicks,cristal gayle ect.
ps all the heavy metal chics too.unusual cds I have are A paris hilton cd,And A rare one is A carmen electra cd.I collect female cds & dvds most only are watched once.I like some of your female artists too.I use to rent net flix and record the female singers.not to long ago I watched the suicide girls videos.they dont even sing.pussycat dolls are much better.
I would call the b. spears girly,but that disc is not like a regular disc.I kept it for 2 weeks because the extras were hidden.she made nasty versions of some videos.I hate the way its made because you cant watch the videos one after another.the neat thing is the main minu it goes to after each song is a sort of inter active moving minu.they said it was an advanced minu.I think thy did it that way so you cant find the nasty videos.I found em!!

Honestly, those kinds of comments are constructs; self-centred contrivances that give us identity, sense of worth, protection, and purpose, amongst other things... That's it. Subjective opinion. Self. Relative to others. Not nearly absolute.
Girly? Gay? If used in a disparaging way, these terms are going to be offensive to some folks. Surely I don't need to explain why.
Categorisation can serve a purpose; labels used to simply disregard or disparage, well, when used this way it suggests a limited ability to look or think or feel beyond the superficial. Or want to... Nothing is as simple as a label - there is always more to it. You can reduce something to a label but that does not make it so; more likely it demonstrates the ignorance or limitations of the labeller - or those that believe the labeller.
I could go on, and on, and on; but, nuff said.
Edit / something more: There is a differnce between using a descriptive category for a genere and labeling & disregarding based on the type of person who is perceived to listen to it. Even so, it is all just contrivance of the self...

No. I said what I said.To clarify / qualify my comment: "You can reduce something to a label but that does not make it so; more likely it demonstrates the ignorance or limitations of the labeller - or those that believe the labeller." I would have liked to have have qualifeid this with "in that specific instance".
I would also add that each of us demonstrate ignorance to varying degrees in the myriad aspects of our lives. I don't use that to define us as merely "ignorant" because of that, nor use that as a basis of judgement. That would be a label, no? We are much more, yet thankfully less, than ingnorant.
