In particular, how much are they compressed?___
Follow Ups:
The domestic (non-SACD) releases are packaged as CD+DVD... The CD's sound good, but the 24/48 PCM tracks on the DVD's are even better (less compression)... Only problem is you need a monitor to navigate to the 2ch PCM tracks or multichannel tracks on the DVD. There's also some nice bonus tracks and videos. Good stuff!

SF
Yeah, - I've found with the Talking heads and the Jesus and Mary Chain, - DualDiscs, - it's fun to flip them over and compare the redbook to the DVD-A/PCM tracks. IN both cases, - they sound much better....
Did you really think that you could put it in a safe behind a painting, lock it up and leave?.... Walk away now, and you're going to start a war
I've wondered for a long time how SOFAD would sound without Flood's sludge, but I didn't want to fork over the $ for the CDs without an indication if it'd be an improvement. Getting rid of the harshness of Violator and Music For The Masses would be nice, too.
EDIT: The last time I listened to Violator and Music For The Masses, I had just changed some stuff in my system. Those changes must have needed to settle in, because I listened to both albums today, and they sound fine, not harsh at all. Hmm.
But my comment about SOFAD still stands, LOL.
