I could have pretty much predicted the outcome in as much as they all pretty much stink in the sound quality department. Great reading, trashing and bashing.

There, agree or not-
Paul Klipsch wholeheartedly agreed.
Yes, probably true for the most part.
Maybe we were reading different article. I don't think Tyll was bashing and trashing anything. i thought it was a fair assessment of headphone in lowert price categories. But he was positive on the VModa and AKG and a few others there also
"Beats by Dre Solo ($199)
I've talked about these already on this page, but I'll restate that I believe these headphones are a disservice to their purchasers and the music played on them."
If that's not trashing a product, I don't know what is. I never said that what Tyll was saying wasn't true or deserved. I knew these headphones sounded like crap and I knew Tyll would come to the same conclusion.
But Tyll did not come to the same conclusion as you did unless you were referring to the beats only as I may have misunderstood you post. He liked some of them and said they sounded good. The winners were House of Marley,Skullcandy and VModa which he liked and even stated in the Marley one these guys get it. So you conclusion they all stink is your opinion and that's fine and have you heard these headphones.I also have not heard any of these headphones except for the K701 I had owned so I cannot form an opinion yet.

I don't think you read the whole thing. He didn't say "they all stink" or anything close to that.
For example, he had nothing negative (other than a lack of bass "oomph") to say about the AKG Quincy Jones 701s, and he said he liked these phones a lot.
There were other phones that he cited as winners (and some as losers):

yes, I read the whole article from front to back and I may have over generalized in my assertion that they "pretty much all stink".
Let me be clear as to my opinion vs Tyll's: anyone who buys a Celebrity "designed" or endorsed headphone gets what they deserve. There is the same SQ or better by some of the same mfrs for less money and he said that too. And by the way, I think the AKG K701 is one of the most over hyped under performing headphones to every come down the pike and I said so in the comments.
Whether or not jimmyjames likes the AKG K701s, it is yet another example of hyperbole to say these phones are "one of the most overhyped..." Compare the amount of hype ("over" or not) coming from AKG with Dr. Dre Beats and Bose, for example--both of which are MUCH more publicized (i.e., hyped and aggressively marketed/advertised) than anything AKG has ever put on the market. First jimmyjames says that Tyll Hertsens trashed all the celebrity headphones, which is factually wrong, and now this...
Jimmyjames, you and I and all the rest of us are certainly going to have differences of opinion, but it makes things muddy (or bloody!) if you stomp on facts or misrepresent what others have written.
I owned the K701 and had it for a year and i will say that it was a good 250.00 mid tier phone. It does many things right and is a nice headphone with the right amp. it does like powerful amps. My top tier phones are all way better but at way more money,
Frank I: What are your "top tier" phones?
I thought the Q701 was "cool". Not too bad for the street price.
You're still showing K701 in your inventory. Out of date or......?
