I had a pair of Audeze LCD2's, that pretty much describes them....darkish for sure.

I found the HiFiman HE400 to actually sound better.

However I can't say all of Audeze headphones are dark and bassy....at least my LCDi4s are not.

  I auditioned the LCD 2 or maybe the 3s (can't remember which number) when I was auditioning headphones. They were much darker sounding than the LCD-x. I ended up purchasing the x's and love them!
  
  They are definitely heavy, but it doesn't bother me particularly, but can understand how they may be uncomfortable for some.
