I love the unique, feather-lite feeling of my Grado RS-1s with standard hollow earcups. The SR-325's might be the better bargain because they provide about 90% of the performance of the RS-1 for roughly 1/2 the $$$, but they are significantly heavier/less comfortable too.
If anyone wants "heavy", the aluminum-bodied PS-1000 with G-Cups might very well be the boat anchor they are looking for...

I must have been blessed with beginner's luck because I chose the RS1e w/o doing a lot of research. It was in the price range I was I searching for and I wanted wood. I didn't know these are lighter than some of the other Grados, like the aluminum ones you mentioned.
The aluminum bodied SR-325s that I used to own felt like they weighed twice as much as my RS-1s do. The extra weight of the SR-325s was not a real big problem but the luxurious comfort of the RS-1s have spoiled me.And the RS-2s are even lighter than the RS-1s are, by a tiny margin.
