I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 600's that I have had for about 14 years. The foam piece that covers the speaker inside the ear cup on the right ear has disintegrated. I called Sennheiser a while back to buy a replacement and they did not offer a replacement. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, does anyone know of a source for this material? Without the thin foam piece, I can hear a difference between the left and right channels. Thanks in advance for your help.

Actually one of the mods of the 580/600 is to remove that thin foam in the ear cup for more detail and clarity.
I've done it one mine and prefer it without the foam pads.
Sennheiser offers a flat rate refurbishment on their headphones. I had an old pair of HD 580s refurbished, and they came back like new. https://secure.sennheiserusa.net/
I had exactly the same thing with HD580's. I just got the replacement velour earpieces. These include the interior foam.www.sennheiserusa.com, part 050635
"US - Earpads with foam disk one pair 050635"It's expensive for just the interior foam, but after 14 years, the earpads probably could use replacement as well.

Appreciate the info. I recently purchased a replacement part from B&H Photo on another item that was 11 years old. I found them slow to ship. Thanks again. :)
Just rip out the foam on the other side so they match!
I've done that. Don't ask me for the difference in sound quality: They still sound very fine to me!
Good question for head-fi.org.

maybe longer, and they seem to be holding up fine - so far. When
something goes wrong, I'll likely buy a new pair, or maybe spring for
the HD800s.
