to use with an ipod for a Christmas present. Anything decent under $30? Thanks!
Follow Ups:
I really like my SoundMagic E30's. Very secure with the up and over the ear design. Sound is really good in my opinion. Nice tight bass that goes pretty low with excellent midrange. Highs are just a tad rolled off but not offensively so.They're a little beyond your price range, but if you're willing to bump up a little they're well worth it.
Edit: there's a huge IEM thread over at HeadFi that will either help or hinder your serach...http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/multi-iem-review-266-iems-compared-rock-it-sounds-r-50-added-11-29-12

Just outside your stated price range but the YUIN PK3 @ $39 from HeadDirect might be an option.

All the iPod users in my family have gotten these for Christmas:

They sound warm and reasonably detailed without being etched.
Happy listening,

I'd bump up the price you are willing to spend and get your daughter some Thinksound headphones. Start her down a journey towards quality audio reproduction. And they are environmentally responsible too, always a nice bonus.
The earpods are *much* better than the old -- and fairly detestable -- Apple earbuds. So if you got these automatically with the purchase of the iPod, they are pretty decent. They sit a bit differently in the outer ear. For me, they feel looser, but are actually less prone to falling out. I'm sure that's something that may vary by individual. These are right at $30.
Actually they are for my daughter. She has a Nano that is two years old. She just approached me a couple days ago showing me one of her earbuds no longer works. Thought a replacement would be a good Christmas gift. While I own several good headphones, I am not familiar with the current earbuds on the market. Thought this would be a good place to ask. Thanks for the info and link.
Another data point: my son uses these $10 sony earbuds and likes them. Like the earpods, left side must go in left ear and right side in right ear.... But this doesn't seem to bother him and he's used these for a year and a half, no problems.
I ordered these on your (sons) recommendation.
These are great. Granted, I have only used cheapo earbuds and in ear phones due to using them for exercising and mowing lawns, etc.. But these are far superior than anything I have used so far.
Thanks! They look like a winner.
