The LCD2 I reviewed here and liked them very much. i sold them for two reasons small sound stage and erector set build quality. I went throug and owned all the flagships HD800,T1,D7000,HE6 and heard the HE500. I sold them all and repurchased my D7000 and the T1. I find the T1 to be the best for me in my system and its all tubes for me. I did not care for the the Stax 02 I heard and thought they were bass shy for my taste. All the orthos were good but the HE6 was better than the LCD2 except it needs a speaker amp and that was solid state. All flagships are good and the LCD2 is exceptional but remember they are a one trick pony company with a short warranty. too many changes on the product and that was also another r reason I sold them.

I've ordered a pair from Mark Lawton with his basic mod. Should be here in a week or so. I'm very partial to the Denons for sound quality, comfort and build quality.

I've never heard the D7K's, looking forward to them a lot. I understand they're a hair easier to drive than the 5000's.

  I needed a closed phone and the d7000 was so good that I had missed it. JR Music also discounts them where for 649.00 there was nothing better around. denon uses Fostex drivers in the D7000. I have never been tempted to have them modded.

      You need to call and get the right rep. travis is the last one that sold them to me for 649.00 Other have paid that from Headroom also.

      It depends on the salesperson. You can get all kinds of answers.
      
      Ebay is $729.
      
      I bought a refurb (it's perfect) from Dakmart for $500 about 2 months ago. Looks like now it's $600.
