In Reply to: RE: Tom Evans YouTube video is back online posted by Dynamite Ham on December 13, 2024 at 20:46:43
I posted one two days ago. In any case it looks like more folks are re-posting the video since the news hit that YouTuber "Mend it Mark" was being bullied and threatened by Tom Evans Audio. I'm seeing a few more re-posts this morning by various supporters of "Mend it Mark".Too bad for Tom Evans. The cat's out of the bag now and it won't go back in to stay. The damning video will keep resurfacing. This is what happens when companies bully others. Remember Noel Lee of Monster Cable ?

I do remember Mr Lee. It made me regret buying any of his products.
LowIQ
and folks who like Tekton buy Tekton. I will buy Tom Evans phono as soon as I have a scratch. American public including audiophiles supports merchants, dealers and salesmen. They mostly don't give a fig who is behind the product and brain or surrogate mother can always be bought or hired as long as the faceplate stays the same because what's inside is of little importance. The rest of a civilized world used to function with patronage of artists, makers and artisans- mostly alien concept to US consumers.
...but that's not the point of all the uproar.
The uproar is partially justified by the "dickhead" initial reaction of TE.
Who knows the cause, surprise? bad day, bad judgement. Myself? I'd hire a squad of local soccer hooligans and broke a few of Mend Mark front teeth and that would be IT. This is the way one small business owner deals with other small business owner.
British designers often consider their work an art and behave like a pompous pricks. Does it justify a lynching crowd of MP3 barbarians to cancel the business? You never heard any product of TE, know nothing about the business but you joined the mob to burn it down, because it does not fulfil your price point criteria.
I'd wave my hand if Mend it Mark was a complete imbecile unaware of the fallout. He doesn't look like the sharpest tool in the shed but he is surely clever enough to maximize the click count
I have no problem with build quality and re-sale value. I work with my hands and know what it takes. CAD design, automatized PCB assembly and China sourced CNC chassis, plus $10k for face plate project from an artist and Youtube crowd is happy. Of course I will never have money to buy Master Grove, and frankly I don't feel a need to have a gear on that level , but if by some accident I hit the bank the re-sale value will be last on my mind.
You seem to have a rage issue.
And, no, small business owners are not entitled to the kind of deference you seem to imagine they should have by default.
I suspect few people willing to drop 25,000 pounds on a poorly constructed phono pre-amp also follow Mend It Mark, so the most sensible response to the video is no response.
I have no rage issue. Simply mob mentality you support is not my thing.
There is no indication that the preamp performs poorly despite what you may think of construction. It sells in considerable number annually and the manufacturer is a recipient of many industry awards and accolades.
Too many to be damaged by the morons.
It's far from clear what really happened in this case but mob already made up it's mind and a mob present on this board did it as well including Abe's childish and ignorant postings.
To blame Mend it Mark for this mess? You have some issues, no?
"Myself? I'd hire a squad of local soccer hooligans and broke a few of Mend Mark front teeth and that would be IT."
Mark didn't have to disclose circuit diagrams for everybody to see. He knows realities of a small boutique audio shop making money by offering a unique devices people want to buy just because they are what they are. That youtube twat got his money for repair and he wanted to maximize profit because he spotted an opportunity in taking down a business. If you don't see anything wrong with " only fans" than there is nothing we can talk about.
PS . Dense are the people who buy BMW class of car without resources to repair the car if needed. Do you belong in this category? Looking for help from Mend it Marks in such circumstances?
