No is the short answer. There is not much of anything in Springfield MO. I did finally meet a couple of people who are audio goofs like us on Audio Circle after I posted for other audio goofs in the Springfield area. I'm very glad I am not there anymore. St Louis, KC and Tulsa have audio shops. All are 2.5 to 3.5 hours away.Good Luck,

I have a friend and his family who moved to Nixa MO several years ago when he retired from the Air Force. I believe Nixa is "out in the country" South of Springfied. They just sold their older home and moved to a huge newer place in Republic MO (SW of Springfield) that was $315K. A comparable home here would be about $950K to $1.1M. Crazy. They like it out there, except for the frequent storms and tornado warnings. Not much to do out that way either? You certainly get a lot more home for your money out there.

Springfield and Nixa have melded together. It's near impossible to tell when you have left one into the other. You can get more house for your money, no doubt, but having to live in the Springfield area is not worth it to me or my wife. So we left.

I don't know if I would be bored living near Springfield or pleasantly content with a slower pace. I hear it gets quite humid there too, something we're not used to here in very dry Colorado. Take a shower and wipe down dry in a matter of seconds. FL was the complete opposite. Take a shower and you never dry off especially if you step outside.
AC is a requirement, and units have a short life span. Stepping outside and immediately feeling like you walked through a sideline mister sucked. Hated it. I lived in CO for much of my life and currently live in a similar climate just further west. The best part, 4 distinct seasons. I have to have it that way.JCarney

Lambert's - Home of the "Throwed Rolls". They have only one serving size - too much and once you've ordered, there are "pass arounds" that you can add. And yes, there's a guy on a cart who will throw you a roll if you gesture.
Likewise, we have far more home for the money in our small college town. Gotta drive an hour to the "big city" for some things. Which really isn't that different than when we lived in the Atlanta area. And I most certainly DON'T miss big city traffic. ;)
I could be wrong but I believe South Carolina is probably priced similar to Georgia - but I'm sure it depends on where in each State. Wife has relatives near Columbia SC. We visited the University of South Carolina and was amazed at the massively huge oak trees on campus. We were told that the University has two full time arborists on staff.
We live in the suburbs so the traffic is lighter than Denver but still more than I like to deal with. I worked from home most of my career so that helped a lot. These days I run errands and such during off-peak traffic hours.
Gosh, sounds like your meetings with "audio goofs" there were not very productive... Were any of them Audio Asylum members, by any chance ?What did you dislike most about Springfield ? Some people I know are thinking about moving there.
It seems like many towns and cities in Missouri contain high numbers of goofy religious fanatics with correspondingly high crime rates, especially violent crimes. All at much higher rates than the national average...
But living is relatively cheap in Springfield.

The two gentlemen I met are very nice and I enjoyed their company. Springfield just does not do it for me, and I agree MO does have a lower cost of living than most of the US, I did not mind that. I would not recommend Springfield to anyone for a place to live, that is just my opinion. I also do not like humidity, so that played a big role. The drivers in Springfield are just bloody awful. Most frustrating place I have ever driven and I have been all over this country. I was there for a little more than 3 years and was extremely happy to get back out west where I belong.

I'll pass that info on to my brooding, muscular associates.
You're welcome.
