In Reply to: RE: Absolutely. Have you tried a soundbar for TV/Movies ? posted by AbeCollins on November 14, 2024 at 09:34:39
A full blown HT with surround processor or HT receiver and discrete speakers will be even better than a soundbar but now we're talking multiple components, cabling mess, and the need to integrate it with the 2-ch system..... assuming it's in the same room.
those challenges. Run cabling in walls and under floors. Hide big gear in nearby closet. Hang surround speakers. Connect subs wirelessly. Most don't know what the speakers are. :)
Integration unnecessary for music playback.

Are you running two completely separate systems in the same room including two pairs of front speakers? A 2-ch pair for the main stereo AND a another different pair of speakers for the HT's L+R front channels ?
As an aside, what are you using for the pre/pro or AV receiver ?

been located in the family room on a different floor than the music one. It uses Emotiva processor and five channel amp.
While more pics and system info is found in my profile, here are a couple. The three pic wall hanging near French doors is hinged to provide access to closet where power amp and Oppo player share a rack.
Ah yes, that makes sense and I remember now. You showed us the clever 3-picture hinged 'door' before that conceals equipment behind it. Is there equipment behind the 2-pictures to the left of the TV ? What's hiding behind the mounted deer head ? An RPi streamer might fit and you can use the antlers as Wifi antenna ;-)

There's actually a sauna behind there accessible from the master bathroom. During the reno, we extended the back wall to add the closet and widen the space. Which took triple 24" LVLs to support the floor above.

Haha! Toyed with idea of connecting spare RPi4 in there but honestly don't need it since most music listening there is for background purposes and the Oppo has digital library on a microSD card. The dipoles work great filling that floor of the house with music.
There are two cable chases: One from higher TV location to processor below for HDMI and another that runs horizontally from processor floating shelf to closet for signal wires. Along with the speaker runs under the floor to mains and surrounds near kitchen island.
Amp gets dedicated 20A circuit. Got the hidden closet idea from the original owner who lives in a nearby condo.
Nice pics, but where are the pics of nubile scantily-clad Chinese girls? ;)
