You can do this and the sound quality will be retained although not improved. OTOH, can't you simply play the DVDs themselves?
Follow Ups:
I won't get my ILX until next week or so, but I copied this from a 5 year old post:
"The Acura's will not play the audio portion of ANY DVD-V, DTS or otherwise. They will play DTS CDs and the DTS tracks on DVD-Audios (as well as the HiRez tracks)."
Thanks for your response Ken. What would be the preferred method of extracting the music element from the DVD?
On another note, how does DTS 5.1 CD quality compare to DVD-Audio? Your going to teach me some new stuff here...I very much appreciate it.
Brad
Thanks,
Brad
DVD-Audio has higher resolution of course, but if the source is lossy, there's no point to transferring to a lossless format. It would be like making a high-resolution scan of a low-res print.
DVD-Audio compares favorably to lossy formats like DTS and DD. SACD is another format you may want to check out, but it won't play in your car.

No point in copying it to DVD-A.
Not Ken
After 10 years the format is still misunderstood. Not a surprise that it is basically dead. still waiting for the rest of the King Crimson discs though. Google is certainly your friend.
