Blu Ray vs. DVD for CD/CD-R playback?

I've read enough in here to convince me that DVD players don't make very good CD players, except possibly the high-end stuff. Are Blu Ray players any better?

BDP-95 and BDP-93 sound pretty darn good to these ears on ALL formats...

If you use a coaxial digital output from a DVD or BluRay player, then there is no reason to spend a large chunk of money on a player for just CDs.

I don't know if this applies generally ,but my OPPO BDP83 outperforms my old Carver SD/A 450 CD player.But ,then ,the Carver is from 1990.Playback tech has advanced some since then.
But then ,I don't recall any DVD player sounding better than the Carver.
