I'd say. I know the guy who remixed it and was lucky enough to have him play it back for me right at the same console. Wheeeeee!!!
The original tapes simply aren't perfectly clean. Some extremely judicious and conservative noise reduction applied to each single individual multi-track could help, but no NR was applied that I'm aware of.
Too bad the whole mutlichannel thing failed commercially, I would have LOVED to heard "Tarkus" in surround.
P.S. Check out the Chicago discs, same guy, GREAT mix of "25 or 6 to 4"

my friend saw that i got it wrong. its the original cd that he has thats harsh and he wanted to hear the dvda but they seem waaaay overpriced on the net.
personally, i dont have either cd nor dvda just my original vinyl that i got when it came out.
