Cool, have to watch out for it. Would rather have 24/96 vs 24/48. Not sure how much better 24/48 sounds vs 16/44. Don't understand why all aren't 24/96.
thanks

As a general rule, much better. the increased bit depth makes a signficant difference in sound quality - assuming, of course, that the recording was properly done in the first place.

A few reasons:
1. Space on the disc. A DualDisc is a DVD-5, which is the smallest DVD available. If you're going to cram 2-ch, mch, DD, and videos on a DVD-5, you have to trim somewhere.
2. Cost and practicality. It costs more to work with higher resolution material. Also, if the source material was digital, it may not have been recorded at anything higher than 24/48 to begin with.
Racerguy, since these discs are all the same physical size what makes a 5 the smallest dvd? Number of layers?
thanks

You've got it - a DVD-5 is a single-sided, single layer disc.
