If you're referring to the DVP-NS9000ES, it plays, CD, SACD, and DVD-Video. It is not capable of playing DVD-Audio.

  So all you're getting from most DVD-Audio discs is lossy-compressed audio, just like you'd get from any other DVD-Video player. You need a DVD-Audio player to play the DVD-Audio content. The DVP-NS9000ES is not a DVD-Audio player.

        I just watched , and listened , to a Jeff Beck concert video on bluray.It had the DTS HD master audio sound track and it sounds great.
        The mix wasn't overly agressive , with ambient and croud sounds in the surrounds.
        I hope more good concerts show up on this format.
