I converted the first track to a WAV file and analyzed it in an old version of Cool Edit (Adobe Audition). Here is the report:
Left Right
Min Sample Value: -32019.63 -31458.86
Max Sample Value: 32019.63 32019.63
Peak Amplitude: -.2 dB -.2 dB
Possibly Clipped: 0 0
DC Offset: -.02 -.02
Minimum RMS Power: -74.2 dB -73.92 dB
Maximum RMS Power: -4.15 dB -4.46 dB
Average RMS Power: -13.33 dB -12.67 dB
Total RMS Power: -12.18 dB -11.63 dB
Using RMS Window of 50 ms
Don't know if that helps any....

Yae or nae?
Sorry, I can't help much. I don't have the original CD. I don't know who said that it was "highly compressed" in the first place and why they said that and if they had any idea what they were talking about.
I usually just play music I like and don't worry about how it was made. YMMV.
Not really.
:)
I guess what would be of help would be a jpeg of the waveform compared to the CD. Somebody on another board seems to think that the 24/96 may be derived from the same compressed master, just at a higher resolution. that would not be of much interest to me. I mean, you have the resolution, might as well use it.
In my humble opinion both the CD and LP suck sonically.'
Just not a great recording and really boring music imho. The Grammys get it wrong again. And I'm a huge Allison Krauss fan.
