DVD-A recordings, of course.
Do you or have you made DVD-As with .wav files? Have you made any discs, in stereo, with sampling rates of 176.4kHz?

Yes, and Yes.
I do live to 2 track hi res digital recording in 24 /176.4 and 24/192.
The tracks can be played back on a workstation, with the appropriate audio card, but to play back on consumer electronics you need to convert the files to the DVD-A standard. As mentioned by other posters, discwelder makes serveral versions of software.
I prefer DVD solo by Cirlinca.com. You can download it for free and try out several discs before buying the software.
The main improvement over discwelder, is the 99 dollar bronze package does not let you controll the burn speed, it runs at the max speed.
with dvd solo you can create and write the ISO file image to your hard drive so you can keep the DVD-A ISO file and later use a standard burning software to burn to a DVD-R blank disc.
best john
I think you need to get disc-welder bronze to burn your own DVD-A. I use a program called audio dvd creator, that burns to the video standard and can create 24/48 and 24/96 stereo recordings that will play on just about any DVD player. Works very well.
I can already burn DVD-V discs with several different programs that I have. However, the 176.4kHz sampling rate isn't part of the DVD-V spec, so that option will not work.
The reason I asked about .wav to DVD-A is because the question has come up as to why Reference Recordings' new HRx format is being issued on DVD-R rather than DVD-A discs (it's a $ issue). One person had asked if the 176.4kHz .wav files could be used to make a stereo DVD-A disc so that a DVD-A player could play the recording, rather than using a computer to read the disc. The answer is yes, as long as you have a DVD-A software program (they range from free to $$$). I just wanted to know if anyone is using this route to listen to the HRx recordings.
