Support from major labels is gone.
A handful of releases a year, from small independent labels, is the best you should expect.
Follow Ups:
I believe it is possible to buy hi-res downloads from HDtracks and others and burn DVD-A disks that you can play. (Assumes you have a computer with DVD burner and a broad band Internet connection.)

But I was looking at some AV equipment and the store had a Blu ray (Im not sure what band - I wasnt paying attention) on. As I was checking out the AV receiver (a $9000 Pioneer btw) the sound through Martin logans was definitely very good. I'm wondering if Dolby TrueHD might be the way forwards for Hi -Def music.

...that as a music format, Blu-ray suffers from the same overarching issue that DVD-Audio had: you need a video monitor to successfully utilize it (ref recent Blu-ray music review in The Absolute Sound ). This was, of course, the #1 complaint about DVD-Audio as a music-only delivery vehicle.
The BD format seems to me to be ideal for every music/video application. Even a "lowly" CD could be released on BD with higher resolution and an accompaning video of just the recording session. That would make every cd more interesting.
As for needing a video display, some dvd-audios start automatically in the best resolution mode after a time out. I personally solved the menu display problem by purchasing a portable dvd player with a 9 or so inch screen. These are $100 +/- and are all you need to set things up.
True. OTOH, there's little alternative these days.

Whatever flavor they are. Does anyone really think that Sony is going to make a huge investment in music-only Blu-Ray discs after they lost their shirt on SACD? Blu-Ray is a movie format and even as a movie format it is not taking off with any great speed.
AIX is making the right move. Eventually, every audiophile is going to have a high-end music only computer as one of their sources.
