So I guess that is why I never heard of Eddy Vedder.I also HATE electric Neil Young, it's the acoustic Neil Young I love such as the albums Harvest and Harvest Moon.
The music of my Generation included the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Cream, Gerry Rafferty, Donovan, Cat Stevens, etc. Much of this music is both beautiful and exciting.
Pearl Jam and NIN's (YUCH!) do not belong to my generation, I have heard Pearl Jam before, didn't they come out in the mid 1990's? But NIN's music was brand new to me yesterday, what a terrible experience listening to it was. Sorry to those you like this ugly depressing sounding distorted so-called music.
I guess I am getting old, oh well as Mick Fleetwood would say!
Music is love,
Mono is not music to my ears.
Give me stereo or give me silence!

Eddie Vedder's sountrack to the movie "Into The Wild" is superb. Some excellent acoustic as well as non acoustic. That album does deserve a high rez release.

Man, I think of NIN as a Pop band!!!!! Topical at best.
underneath Reznors music is a strong "pop" sensibility.
and I hear what you're saying........
But, there was a lot of great music, (at least many people say), that came out after, and because of what happened in England, and somewhat in the USA; it changed "rock" forever. Without making a value judgment about those bands that you mentioned, much of what happened was both a reaction against, and at the same time, a continuation of...
Both "approaches" are powerful, it's just that the punk/post punk applications do it in a much different way.
CSNY was a great band, but so too was the Clash....
Cheers,
I know that you think that you know what I said, but do you realize that what I said was not what I meant?
