Albums chart .
In advance of its release , I said in this forum , that I suspected Minutes To Midnight was going to be a hit .
And , now, Minutes To Midnight is .... a huge hit . It sold 623,000 copies in its first week of release , and that is the best first week sales total of any album released this year .
It's great that Warner released a Hi-Rez PCM version of this brand new hit Rock album .
BTW , almost two years ago , I said don't expect to see any brand new hit Rock & Pop albums released on SACD . Since then , I have seen brand new hit albums on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart released on DVD-A , DualDisc with DVD-A , DualDisc with Hi-Rez PCM , DVD with Hi-Rez PCM , and MVI with Hi-Rez PCM . But , I have not seen any released on SACD .
DVD-A and Hi-Rez PCM Rock , and ....
DVD-A and Hi-Rez PCM Rule !!!!!

I do like LP, but i prefer to buy it on a regular cd format + DVD, save some monye and buy the latest....
Weird Al Yankovic album on DUALDISC!!!!!
Yes ZS KEKL! It's true... You can have a DualDisc and have a laugh with it.
It's not always sad to buy a low def. media thinking we've done a great think by supporting it blindly!!!!
Seriously... I like Weird Al Yankovic as an artist / comedian and i did import this DualDisc from U.S.A. to Europe. I do recomend it. It's a regular CD with Video on the DVD side and a normal 5.1 presentation. Not High-Defenition AT ALL.
But it's funny... So funny to see KEKL to support DualDisc this way!
Something to truly make Kekky...
LOL!
LOL!
LOL!
For real!
(LOL)
Glad to find someone with a sence of humor...
But really i'm a big "Al" fan! And this DualDisc is really fun, but NOT Hig-Rez.
Oh! And were i talk about High-Defenition, well i also meant High-Resolution regarding audio...
I hope KEKL won't mind this... "I shoul kick myself" for this one....
Best regards,
Hugo Rosa.
Reuters says:
With an opening week large enough to remind us of the good old days, Linkin Park steps into the future. Its "Minutes to Midnight" is not only the first album to be sold in the new Music Video Interactive configuration, it becomes the first MVI-available title to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Certainly a big seller, but 90% of the 623,000 are not the special edition, which includes the BONUS disc in MVI.
The Warner Bros. label estimates that 60,000 of Linkin Park's U.S. units (almost 10 percent) were sold in the MVI format, which plays on DVD players but unbundles such goodies as ringtones, wallpaper and other bonus features when popped into a computer.
Note that digital downloads accounted for 13 percent of the album's U.S. opener, which is impressive.
Linkin Park's peak week was with "Meteora", which fetched 810,000 in 2003.
Regarding the BONUS disc in MVI format, from shop.mtv:
The Special Edition of Minutes to Midnight includes an MVI -- Music Video Interactive -- disc that's playable in DVD players and computers. The MVI includes downloadable MP3s for all tracks; the “What I’ve Done” video; “Making Of” videos of Minutes To Midnight and “What I’ve Done”; a “What I’ve Done” ringtone; a photo gallery, booklet in PDF, screensavers, lyrics, and more.
Just what we need: ring tones and MP3s. This quote fails to mention the inclusion of music in higher than CD resolution, so you can see what the basic pitch is.
Is there a higher resolution stereo audio version on the MVI? Apparently so. Is it 96 kHz/24 bit?
Is there also a 5.1 surround mix on the MVI? I don't think so.
Regards,
Geoff
Stereo only hi-rez in 48/24.
It does sound pretty good regardless.
My statement lacked foundation. I can handle the truth. ;-)
Regards,
Geoff
if you consider 48/24 to be high-rez.....;)
