About 12-15 years or so ago, I started to rip my collection. After 3 months, I had gotten up to H in my collection.
Life's too short to spend all that time ripping, it's just not worth it for me.

I understand completely. I agree that ripping CD's can be a chore but I approached ripping my CD's in 'chunks' doing a handful or so at a time over several months. I started with my favorites in case I would stop due to boredom. Well, I finally got 90% of them ripped and the last 10% were discs I didn't really care for and never played anyway. Done.
Fast forward over a decade and as it turns out just about every CD I ripped is available to me via high quality streaming services like Qobuz or Tidal.
You no longer need to rip! Stream baby, Stream !
My ripped music resides on a Mac Mini external SSD and Synology NAS hidden in the basement utility room. My music Library is a combination of my own CD rips AND selections that I added from the Qobuz or Tidal streaming services.
iPad Remote Control for my album rips and Qobuz/Tidal streamed albums
Album art thumbnails with Tidal or Qobuz logo are streamed from those services. The rest are my own CD rips.

as it works faster than free solutions like EAC. It took me about the same time to complete my project and couldn't be happier today.
Also in UK, ripping is illegal.
I have over 1000 CDs. Ripping will be boring and difficult.
difficult, no. Insert CD and software accesses external tag libraries and displays all the metadata. Click rip and you're off.
Sometimes I would fine tune the results.
Thanks. I am going to stay with old tech and spin CD. I am going to buy a better CD transport (I have a Cambridge CXC V2). It would be a PS audio, Jay's audio, CEC or Schiit. Can't decide.

Like running, I find the gain worth the pain. :)
We all enjoy music, but in different ways. That is why we call it hobby.
I find we're truly in the golden age of accessing music. Always looking for new content and love the ability to instantly hear something recommended by others. Discover new albums as they drop.
There are a couple I see today worth checking out:

URD is out of stock.
By the way, I only rip my CD when it was damaged, or the original is super expensive or I need some music for beach listening.
