Best way to connect digital output to Schiit Modi?
I'm just starting to build my little office system and got a Jotunheim to use as a headphone amp and pre-amp.
It's hooked up to the output on my pc via usb. Sound is mediocre as I'm still using Spotify and have not yet started down the road of high-rez streaming. But at least it works..
I was getting fairly decent sound from an old Marantz CD63 SE via the analog outputs into the Jotunheim.
Problem is the outputs are failing (connection issues) so I thought I'd use the digital output of the Marantz into the Modi and then plug that into the Jotunheim. I used an old piece of Cardas RCA to connect the Marantz to the Modi and the sound was pretty bad. No where as good as the (failing) outputs on the Marantz. Do I need a 75 ohm digital cable with RCA tips? Is the cable the problem?
thanks
Follow Ups:
I think I may have made a mistake by using the USB from the pc to power the Modi while the Jotunheim USB C was connected to the pc...
Things sound a bit better now.
