...but maybe I should be. The WiiM Pro Plus with remote might be worth a try. A new and potentially useful toy for my audio rack w/o breaking the bank could be fun.
Can you elaborate on the Remote Control ??
I assume that you use the phone App to program various internet radio station presets ??
And once programmed through the App they are accessible with the handheld Remote ??
Follow Ups:
I have provided a link to the manual. The remote covers my needs: unit on/off, volume up/down, mute, input cycling, and 4 presets which I use for internet radio stations.
Some people do not like the fact that it is a Bluetooth remote because it prevents the WiiM from being able to be controlled with an Universal IR remote.
I used the WiiM Home app to play the desired internet radio station and assign it to a button.
Now I just press button 1,2,3, or 4 to play.
I think on the Wiim Home app there is a page where you can 20ish presets with presets 1-4 also available from the remote. They could likely write a few line of software to make a double press on these buttons presets 4-8 but they have not done this yet.
Definitely a step up from using the analog output of an Amazon Echo Dot.
The WiiM shows up as a Spotify speaker output which is a big plus for me.
I used the Pro with just the home app for months before getting the remote, as I thought why do I need it when I have the app.
But I was so wrong. The remote wakes up the unit easier, no turning on my tablet, just grab the remote and make a selection. I never turn the Pro off and it's always ready unless there is a software update which tends to be often.
.
You'll be disappointed with Internet radio. Even the "high" bitrate stuff is low quality compared to Qobuz. The highest I saw was 320kbps.
...the convenience of pushing a pre-set memory button on the dedicated Remote w/o launching an App. Maybe the occasional FM radio stream from my old stomping grounds in SoCal [KROQ, KLOS, KFI, etc.]

You don't want internet radio through Tunein or iheart. It's best to go straight to the station and get their URL for streaming.
The best I have found is Jazzgrove.org and KSDS88.3 San Diego.
They may not suit the most critical listener, but it's nice to just have someone else make great selections for you, and if I heard something I really like, I can go find it on a Hirez source and add it to that Playlist.
I think the Wiim is a awesome value and can't wait to see what the Ultra offers.
For me, its about the content, not necessarily the audio quality. One does not need a network streamer to use Internet radio. If you have a computer connected to your audio system, you can stream Internet radio to your audio system.
One can do this through a browser or one of the station aggregator apps for Windows and MacOS. TuneIn and iHeart are two such apps. Apple had radio station streaming built into iTunes. I don't know if they kept it in Apple Music.
There are hi resolution radio streams available. Check out the link.
