You didn't have to turn it on and off. You just kept it near you, and when you had an idea, you'd push record then push stop. No stupid file structure to weed through. No recording formats to mess with. Just you, a tape and your voice—-when you wanted it, no muss, no fuss. I don't even think they make them anymore. Ahh, the good old days!

P.S. Looks like I have a similar turntable / phono setup as yours. I have the KAB Technics SL-1200mkII, PS Audio GCPH, Dynavector DV-20, Denon DL-103R, SoundSmith retipped Ruby Benz Micro something or other. I don't recall the exact model. They're stored away in the basement utility room for now.
I have an Olympus, but I know it won't last forever.
P.S.: Thanks for reminding me I need to update my profile system. I'm now using a Pro-Ject Phono Box RS2 instead of the GCPH. Love my KAB Techie (and my Rega and my Oracle)!
