"a DMM has absolutely nothing to do with sample rate displays. They have their role, but not here! Mine is used for setting output tube bias."
Like a DMM a DAC display has its role as a tool which I have a explained ad nauseam. Since you dismiss a DAC display as being useful I am shocked that you use a DMM and don't rely soley on your golden ears for setting tube bias.
Follow Ups:
Do you have so many issues with your digital interfaces to require such a diagnostic? I surely don't.
The DAC8 in the main system has horizontal LED ladders for what it plays and both my remote apps tell me the (alleged?) source rate. From any distance in the room, the answer is evident like reading hands on a clock. Or identifying constellations.
Here's the center display with three LED sections. What changes is the relative position of the upper one.
So glad for you that your DAC 8 has little LEDs to show sample rate. But why don't you cover them with black electrical tape as they must be pretty useless to you.
(sans sticky residue) on BRIGHT blue power LEDs found on cable and Virtual Copper boxes as I find them distracting.
And set background lighting for the SP20 and MC1 to minimum. :)
