The 1.5m length refers to SPDIF cables.SPDIF and USB2 are different frequencies. Therefore the calculation of cable SWR will yield different numbers for the null. IOW, 1.5m is wrong for USB if you are worried about signal reflections.
And if SPDIF is properly source and sink terminated with good 75ohm cable there isn't any significant reflections.
That said many SPDIF circuits, both source and sink, are poorly designed. So in that case the 1.5m cable length has some significance.
USB is 45ohms balanced. Just get a good quality USB cable ( < $10) from a reputable vendor and it will be fine.
Also don't count on the idea that a $1000+ USB cable is to spec. Many are not.
