TAS has always had a sweet tooth for the ultra expensive, regardless of its ability to operate, or operate well.
The Early Jadis amp reviews come to mind first...

Spot on
Jon Valin reviewed the original Trios for TAS back in the late '90s and, of course, he loved them and said they might be the best bloomin' speakers in the whole world save for slight deficiency in the bass (they came with active 7" driver subs back then). This back when they were a paltry $36000. the pair. But, as anyone who has ever read Valin over time knows, every speaker he reviewed subsequently became the new greatest flavor of the month.
Sadly, in today's market, a new pair of Duos is pricier than those Trios of yore.
