"I can't make heads of tails of the meaning of the above quote from your post. Might you translate that quote into plain English?"Your question reminded me of something I read here on AA in the past regarding Herb Reichert's writing in Stereophile.
In the 2017 thread "Understanding Herb Reichert" posted by none other than mark.korda@myfairpoint.net himself, inmate SpotcheckBilly12345 posted the following (link below):"IMHO, Herbert's ramblings in the July Stereophile were a bit disjointed and confusing.
So he cut down on the "purple prose" and upped the ante with unicorns and fairy dust? No longer worth reading!"
So, in order to answer your question, you will need an AI Herb Reichert Purple Prose Translator! :-)The understanding Herb Reichert issue is not new.

Well put. Herb has a clear and consistent approach to reviewing. If only his prose was was at least workman-like.
Your Lordship, Gorilla Monsoon used to call Lord Alfred Hayes that. They were WWF now WWE wrestling commentators. I didn't read that review all the way thru. I do like to read Herb Reichart's articles. When he first came to Stereophile he answered a letter I wrote. After he mentioned the Falcon mini monitors way back I e-mailed him back and told him I have an issue of SpeakerBuilder which has about 16 pages of what I thought he might be able to use. I had every issue as some were gifted to me by the very guy who modded my Dyna 70. I was on a bike and took a good long trip to the library to make some copies for Herb. It was closed so when I went to the post office I just sent the whole magizine. I thought this info was a little rare and he would love to have it and he said Yes! It cost me a fiver at least and I never got a thank you or a word or the issue back.So I like Herb Reichert but always have that little issue in the back of mind when being critical on critics......plus puffin on a fatty before Perry Mason on Me in the morn didn't help.......take care Your Lordship...Mark. Korda
I do try to take care. As Sgt Phil Ezterhaus (sic), from that wonderful show, "Hill Street Blues", would tell his troops at morning roll call: "Let's be careful out there. Real careful." As for the reviewer in question, or for that matter any reviewer, no need to be an epic stylist, just put one stylistic foot in front of another and write clear, unadorned prose. The review is not an written exercise in a high school creative writing class. Oh, well. Enough is enough. You take care, yourself.
