Regarding HDCD, I was a programmer and network administrator at the time it came out. I thought it a clever way to attempt to extract more bit depth from a bit-limited format. Did any of that fly over your head? On the other hand, more bits and higher sampling frequencies were around the corner when it came out.

In fact, Pacific Microsonics signed me to a non-disclosure agreement and authorized me to go hunting for investors for them.

I made a couple of presentations, and got close, but the deal would not close.

Mostly because the very wealthy family office that was most interested was leery of giving IIRC $7 million to a start-up outfit whose sole asset was a patent, and which did not want to surrender any control.

They had just been burned by a software/programming startup.

Oh well. We had our "What might have been" moments when Microsoft bought the company.

  Wow, an NDA! You signed an NDA! A couple of months ago I signed an NDA about a receiver we couldn't write about ... yet.
  
  So what you're saying is that they told you what they're doing and wanted you to try to get some money. Guess that didn't work out.
