Of course. Charley and I had many discussions both private and on this
forum about MQA and about my comparisons. He was conjecturing that there
must have been a remix or remaster of the recordings I used for my
comparisons. But he didn't know that for a fact, especially with my own
recordings, where I knew the provenance.
But the only point I am making is that when you and others state that no-
one who wrote about MQA did any comparisons, that is incorrect.

Come on John, let's be realistic. From what I could see, you privately made comparison, didn't acknowledge what Charles was telling you, even though he made your A/D converter, and came up with some conclusions.
Meanwhile, users couldn't use the files, which could've been very valuable to verify the wild claims so many were making -- particularly when McGill found basically no easily identifiable differences.
So no, I don't call that making proper, meaningful comparisons. In a nutshell, you didn't. McGill went about it well, mind you -- and look what they found.
Is it any wonder people look back at that time with great suspicion -- particularly with what we know now?

You have done it on more than one occasion lately?
John got in here about MQA. I'm talking about MQA.BTW, look back in history and you'll see this talk about MQA dates back 5 years. That Stereophile is attached to MQA so strongly is their issue. If whoever else back MQA in that way also decided to discuss it here, I'd be happy to.

It's probably too much to hope that one of the MQA shills from TAS will chime in here LOL
If so, I'd be asking them the exact same questions. But many have been trying to reverse course, covering their tracks, or keep silent.

SoundStage!
Is this the same Soundstage that was selling equipment for a while and people got screwed?
"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the
most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad..."
Hello,
No. There have been a number of Soundstage-named retailers over the years -- and we often get emails that we reply to and say, "we're not them."
We're review-based publications.
