That performance is 9 minutes shorter than the EMI/Angel that I grew up on and is the best 2nd I have heard including the Abaddo. To me one of the best performances of anything ever recorded by Mahler. But this 1952 performance has a lively and full sound, obviously hardly a fit your system but comes through on my Maggie 3.5 The mono gives it an organ like feel to it.I do not mean organic. The 2nd with Klemperer EMI,is architecturally magnificent...
I have heard Boulez, Bernstein and Haitink live in the concert hall. The last was satisfying. The Walter performance is not sound structurally- Clearly not for Boulez and Bernstein in the Sony can be foolish.
Thanks for responding.

I used to own the OHM F omni-directional.(only fifty ever made...The speaker did justice to Mahler.and organ music...But it was a hernia maker---190 lbs each..Had to travel to this guy in the Midwest who could make parts for it finally gave up. Excellent in its time when it worked. The Sound Labs is in a whole other league..I can see why you would be frustrated with mono recordings.
