It's better have the shield connected from both side of the ethernet cable or have a floating shield at one end or both?
I'm a bit confused reading very different opinion about.
Follow Ups:
Ethernet cables come in a variety of configurations
Many with out any shield
The 10BASE## cables are coaxial, and have a shield, though are not the current SOTA for new systems
The Cat 5, 5e and 6 cables are variations on a 4 pair wire bundle where each pair is individually twisted. These configurations have no shield that is a conductor.
An optical cables do not have a signal or electrical shield.
So, not quite sure what you are looking for...

Possible correction / more information:
the linky below shows the classification of various cables and their specifications.
So Cat 1 - old copper voice cable
Cat 2 Voice and Data for Telecom (switches, as opposed to Ethernet switches)
When we get to Cat 7 & 7A, there is shielding on each pair and the bundle - but then again it is rated to 600Hz, and 7A, 1GHz
With Cat 8 similarly shielded and rated up to 2GHz...
