Not sure I fully understand your configuration with the Schiit elements mentioned, but are you just pursuing a single USB-C to USB-C cable?
Signal lead metallurgy can play a role but that effect can be minimized by cutting out any unnecessary cable length if you have a stable and compact setup.
I am not familiar with the Mac, so hopefully others will chime in. But I would suggest attention being paid to minimizing cable length and validating thorough shielding in any setup that includes a computer source.
Naturally, that pretty much means anything using USB...

I *think* I've got this right...sorry if my OP was not clear. The MacBook Air has USB-C ports. The DAC has a USB-B connector, the kind usually used on printers.
So the cable ends should look like the photo I've attached above. Thanks for your input.

I see clearly now... what you are after is basically an OTG (On-The-Go) cable configuration. There are plenty of options up on AliExpress; though my personal preference would be to exclude/remove those that employ ferrite cores on relatively short lengths as well as samples displaying tightly interwoven leads. But that's me... others will likely indicate differing preferences.
Consider an appropriately configured offering from here (non-domestic):
